A 23rd woman has now filed a lawsuit against Deshaun Watson, citing inappropriate sexual misconduct. The Cleveland Browns embattled quarterback, Deshaun Watson, has had quite a crazy year and change. Last season, the Houston Texans sat their Pro Bowl quarterback amid numerous claims of sexual assault. During this offseason, the Texans and Browns completed a blockbuster trade. The Browns signed Watson to a massive extension with $230 million guaranteed.
That prompted a ton of backlash from people around the league, as well as fans. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell recently disclosed that the investigative part of their investigation was coming to a close on the 22 women who have filed civil suit claims against the Browns QB.
On Tuesday, a 23rd woman came forward and added her name to the list of pending cases.

Nia Smith’s claims go back to three occurrences during the summer of 2020. She stated that Watson exposed himself during one of their massage sessions. He allegedly placed his hands between her legs and repeatedly asked for sex.
Smith went on to say that her decision to just come forward now was in part due to HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” last week. She stated in a court filing that watching two other plaintiffs’ courage and resolve on the show helped her feel more comfortable to go through with the suit. She was also very displeased with Deshaun Watson’s unwillingness to take any responsibility.
Watson and his lawyers have repeatedly stated that he has done nothing wrong. Particularly, Watson has stated publicly that he has “no regrets.”
The NFL is yet to announce an official timetable for the conclusion for their internal investigation. However, all of the tea leaves point to some form of a suspension for the Browns’ star quarterback.
